Maintenance Technician (Manufacturing)

Full-Time / Perm (2pm finish on Fridays)

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing organisation for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join their established engineering and production team. This is an excellent opportunity for a multi-skilled technician with a strong electrical background who enjoys fault-finding, preventative maintenance and working closely with manufacturing teams to resolve complex equipment and process issues.

The role:

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and continuous improvement of a range of specialist material converting and production machinery.

Working closely with manufacturing and engineering colleagues, you will troubleshoot electrical and mechanical breakdowns, carry out planned preventative maintenance and contribute to projects designed to improve equipment reliability and production performance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out electrical and mechanical repairs on production and material converting equipment.
  • Respond effectively to equipment breakdowns and diagnose complex machine faults.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance in line with SOPs and scheduled maintenance programmes.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and ensure appropriate PPE is used at all times.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing operation.
  • Support stores and spare-parts inventory management, ensuring appropriate minimum stock levels are maintained.
  • Work collaboratively with manufacturing teams to identify and resolve equipment and process issues.
  • Participate in engineering and continuous improvement projects.
  • Support the training and development of colleagues where required.
  • Complete relevant documentation and maintenance records accurately.

Experience/skillset required:

  • Completed Electrical Apprenticeship and/or an ONC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • At least three years’ post-apprenticeship experience, ideally gained within a multi-batch or production/manufacturing environment.
  • A strong multi-skilled maintenance background with both electrical and mechanical capability.
  • Good knowledge of PLCs, pneumatics and control systems, including transducers and signal conversion.
  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance.
  • Good understanding of COSHH and relevant Health & Safety regulations.
  • Strong fault-finding, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to diagnose and resolve both straightforward and complex machinery issues.
  • Experience working within a structured maintenance environment and following SOPs and planned maintenance schedules.
