Head of Finance

An ambitious and growing UK business is seeking a Head of Finance to join its Senior Leadership Team at a key stage in its growth journey. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused finance leader to play a central role in shaping business performance, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving operational improvement across the organisation.

Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with senior stakeholders, the successful candidate will lead the finance function while contributing to wider business strategy, systems development, and long-term growth initiatives. The role combines strategic influence with hands-on leadership, making it ideally suited to a proactive and forward-thinking finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all core finance activities including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management, compliance, and governance
  • Deliver commercial insight and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and business growth
  • Partner with operational leaders to improve profitability, costing, efficiency, and performance reporting
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, controls, reporting, and systems
  • Oversee management accounts, board reporting, statutory accounts, audit, tax, and banking relationships
  • Support investment appraisals, capital expenditure planning, and long-term financial strategy
  • Enhance visibility across margins, inventory, work in progress, operational KPIs, and overall commercial performance
  • Lead ERP optimisation, reporting automation, digital systems development, and business intelligence initiatives

About You

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
  • Proven experience in a senior finance leadership position
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to influence operational and strategic outcomes
  • Experience with ERP systems and supporting digital transformation projects
  • Effective leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making capability
  • Hands-on, pragmatic approach with strong attention to detail
