Financial Controller (Contract)

We are working exclusively with an innovative and fast-growing energy group co-owned by two strategic investors. This group spans 15 entities, including profitable operating companies, development SPVs, and staffed ventures. With impressive cash flow, a strong balance sheet, and ambitious growth plans, this is a unique opportunity to join the core finance team at a critical stage.

As Financial Controller, you’ll work directly with the CFO and take full ownership of management accounting, group cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role that offers real breadth—ideal for someone looking to join a commercially dynamic business with scale-up energy.

This will be a 6 month contract with the potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management Accounting:
    Build and run monthly P&Ls, balance sheets, and variance reports across 15 companies. Create group-wide templates to streamline reporting.

  • Cash Flow Forecasting:
    Design detailed Excel-based cash flow models, track liquidity for operational and development activities, and manage group cash pooling.

  • Financial Reporting & Board Packs:
    Lead quarterly reporting cycles, providing accurate insights into cash, obligations, and dividend capacity. Liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance.

  • Process Improvement & Controls:
    Drive automation and data integrity initiatives using Excel. Build scalable processes for future growth.

  • CFO Support:
    Provide analysis on new development pipelines, M&A prospects, and cost optimisation initiatives.

What We’re Looking For:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified

  • Advanced excel skills. Financial modelling skills are desirable

  • Experience presenting board level
