Financial Controller
Our client is a dynamic and rapidly growing boutique advisory firm that has expanded through strategic acquisitions. As part of their continued growth, they are now seeking to appoint a Financial Controller to take full ownership of the finance function. This is a newly created position, offering the opportunity to shape and enhance financial operations and eventually build a finance team.
Reporting to Partner level, the Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business, ensuring robust financial management, accurate reporting, and strong stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in streamlining financial processes, managing intercompany accounts, and providing strategic insight to support business growth.
The Role:
- Full oversight of the finance function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
- Preparation of monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and financial commentary
- Ownership of intercompany accounts, reconciliations, and consolidation of group financials
- Budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to support business strategy
- Cash flow management and working capital optimisation
- Ensuring compliance with financial regulations, tax obligations, and internal controls
- Liaising with auditors, tax advisors, and other external stakeholders
- Working closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders to provide financial insights
- Implementation of financial systems, processes, and controls to enhance efficiency
- Recruiting, mentoring, and developing a high-performing finance team over time
The Person:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Proven experience in a financial leadership role, preferably within professional services
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including intercompany accounting and consolidations
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to work in an evolving environment and drive process improvements
- Ambition to build and lead a finance team as the company scales
- Strong commercial acumen with a strategic mindset
