Finance Manager – Prestigious School
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Manager to join one of Belfast’s most prestigious and historic schools. This opportunity has shown its head due to a retirement.
You will oversee budgeting, reporting, payroll, fees, compliance, and treasury management, ensuring sound financial control and sustainability. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will support strategic decision-making and provide expert guidance to Governors and stakeholders.
We’re seeking a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a strong track record in financial management, team leadership, and exposure to HR principles.

Responsibilities:

Lead day-to-day finance operations including payroll, fees, and payments.

Prepare detailed management accounts, projections, and cashflow reporting.

Manage annual budgeting, financial statements, audits, and compliance tasks.

Oversee payroll processes, staffing budgets, and salary reporting systems.

Monitor pupil fees, handle debt recovery, treasury, and VAT returns.

Manage finances for College’s retail arm, including VAT and reporting.

Support departmental budgets, visa processes, parent communication, and governance.

Provide HR support on contracts, employment law, and staff welfare.
Who we are looking for:

Qualified accountant with broad post-qualification financial experience.

Self-motivated, detail-focused, organised, with strong numeracy.

Proficient in Excel, accounting software, online banking.

Experienced leader; payroll, charity, education, GDPR knowledge.
