Assistant Accountant
We are working with a well-established, multi-site automotive retail group that continues to perform strongly across the UK and Ireland. They are now seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team on a 12-month fixed term contract.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role will support the day-to-day running of the finance function and play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting and robust controls. The successful candidate will gain valuable exposure within a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified or experienced finance professional who enjoys working in a hands-on role, thrives on accuracy, and wants to build experience within a large, established business.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and post journals and accruals
- Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support management accounts preparation
- Assist with VAT returns and statutory reporting
- Maintain purchase and sales ledgers
- Support internal and external audit processes
- Ad-hoc reporting and finance support as required
Who We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar finance or accounting role
- Part-qualified (or working towards) ACCA/CIMA/ACA desirable
- High attention to detail with strong organisational skills
