Accounting Assistant
Artemis Human Capital is partnering exclusively with a successful and established commercial business to appoint an experienced Accounts Assistant to its busy finance team.
This is a role for someone who enjoys accounting rather than pure transaction processing. Working alongside an experienced team of Accountants, you’ll become a trusted support across a wide range of accounting activities, helping to produce accurate financial information while ensuring the day-to-day finance function runs efficiently.
With dedicated teams already responsible for Accounts Payable and Credit Control, you’ll have the opportunity to focus on the accounting work that keeps the business moving.
The position
This is a varied role where you’ll work across multiple areas of the finance function, including:
- Preparing accounting journals and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Completing regular bank and balance sheet reconciliations, resolving discrepancies where required.
- Producing VAT returns and ensuring compliance with statutory reporting deadlines.
- Managing company credit card reconciliations and ensuring expenditure is correctly recorded.
- Providing support throughout the month-end close, preparing schedules and assisting with reporting deadlines.
- Collating financial information for monthly management reports.
- Assisting three Accountants with day-to-day accounting tasks and ad hoc financial analysis.
- Supporting continuous improvements to finance processes, controls and reporting.
What we’re hoping you’ll bring
Success in this role is more about practical experience than qualifications.
We’re keen to speak with individuals who have:
- Around five years’ experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Officer or Accounting Technician role.
- Hands-on experience with journals, reconciliations and VAT preparation.
- A good understanding of month-end accounting processes.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to their work.
- Good Excel skills and confidence using accounting software.
- A positive attitude and the ability to build strong relationships across a finance team.
What’s in it for you?
You’ll be joining a business that values consistency, teamwork and quality, offering a role where you’ll be trusted with meaningful accounting responsibilities from day one.
In return you’ll receive:
- Competitive salary of £30,000 – ÂŁ35,000
- Hybrid working (4 days in the office, 1 day working from home)
- A varied accounting position with genuine responsibility
- The opportunity to work alongside an experienced and supportive finance team
- A stable business with an established finance function and long-term career security
- A comprehensive benefits package
If you’re an experienced Accounts Assistant looking to move into a role that offers variety, responsibility and the chance to work as part of a high-performing finance team, we’d be pleased to tell you more.
