Artemis Human Capital are delighted to working in partnership with a leading construction business in their pursuit to appoint an In-House Counsel to their growing team. Our client is actively seeking an experienced legal professional to lead the legal department and drive the company’s contract-related strategies.

Position Summary: As the In-House General Counsel specialising in non-contentious contracts, you will oversee and manage all legal matters related to contracts, agreements, and negotiations. You will collaborate with various teams to provide strategic legal advice, assess risks, and ensure compliance with legal regulations. Your expertise in crafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts will be instrumental in safeguarding the company’s interests and fostering sustainable business relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, and negotiate a wide range of non-contentious contracts.
  • Provide legal guidance to internal stakeholders on contract-related matters, ensuring alignment with business objectives while minimising risks.
  • Conduct thorough legal analysis, identify potential risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as finance, operations, and sales to address legal implications and support business initiatives.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, laws, and best practices to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risks.
  • Manage external legal counsel when necessary and oversee external contract-related matters.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience practicing law with a focus on non-contentious contracts or commercial contracts.
  • Proven track record of drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations, coupled with the ability to apply legal principles pragmatically to business scenarios.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
