This shared service provider offers strategic HR business advice at the business partner level and quality support services in the full range of HR functions through specialist teams such as HR administration, resourcing, employee relations advice, payroll, reward, global mobility, HR systems, and learning and development

The Role:

An opportunity has arisen to join the HR Shared Service Centre based in Belfast. This role leads the HR Shared Services team on a day to day basis, through the provision of a first class service supporting the Head of HR Services to deliver operational excellence across multiple teams on a timely basis for both our internal and external clients. Service coverage is both at the global level.

The role also involves continually striving to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the current processes and the transitioning of new offices from across the network into the team ensuring a return on investment for the business.

In your new role you will be involved in:

  • Actively contribute to the strategic and operational agenda, influencing internal clients through effective communication and relationship building.
  • Continual assessment of the work within areas of responsibility, working with managers to develop practical solutions to service improvement, enabling teams to undertake value add activities;
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and good practice across teams, helping managers to continually improve, plan and implement change
  • Lead continuous improvement of these teams and the meeting of appropriate performance and efficiency benchmarks to reduce operational cost, driving a culture of operational excellence;
  • Line management responsibility for the Belfast HR Services Team – HR Advice, Resourcing, Early Careers, Global Mobility, HR Systems Helpdesk, Payroll and Reward and Training Events
  • Manage escalations and responses to service delivery to ensure  a strong client service work focus is maintained
  • Plan and lead projects, taking in to account impacts on HR business processes, capacity within the team and projects in other areas of the firm
  • Provide functional input to the Service Delivery Framework
  • Work with line managers/clients to thoroughly plan and organize the team workload effectively to deliver agreed outputs in an efficient manner within a clear timeframe;
  • Opportunity to act as Deputy Head when required.

Management & Team

  • Have line management responsibility for 4 direct reports and 2 indirect reports
  • Provide strong leadership that drives delivery standards and innovation in the team by empowering and developing others
  • Own functional employee engagement and people management processes including career planning, training/certification, rewards recognition and talent management
  • Take responsibility for coaching and mentoring the team, to develop them and help them reach their full potential
  • Effectively plan the current and future resourcing of the team, including the use of flexible resourcing models
  • Assists team managers to translate and set challenging team goals and objectives into individual objectives and holds 1-1 meetings to discuss progress, identifying areas for development
  • Manage conflict/frustrations within the team with gravitas, facilitating discussion, conversation and resolution
  • Identify the skills of individual team members and through line managers plan workloads accordingly to maximize outputs
  • Encourage others to take on new responsibilities and supports them in their development.

Who you are:


Strong functional HR knowledge of both systems and processes in multinational professional services or commercial organisations.

  • Ability to deliver high quality client service through the building of strong trusted advisor relationships with clients and is seen as part of the client’s management team.
  • Strong commercial/business acumen with the ability to influence strategic thinking/direction through creative/pragmatic solutions.
  • Experience of managing via KPIs, SLAs and other performance metrics.
  • Agility to manage strategically and act operationally during periods of stability and change.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to maintain strong working relationships.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and monitoring effective commercial HR solutions including transitioning processes/services.
  • Strong people management skills to build and maintain high-performing teams.
  • Role models consistent high performance and quality service, being an effective manager of self, team and task to ensure quality services are consistently delivered.
  • Exceptional organisational and project management skills with a focus on quality improvement and a strong client work ethic
  • Open minded to change and to finding new ways of driving business value.
  • Open, enthusiastic, and engaging approach to collaborating with others.

You will have an advantage if you:

  • Graduate calibre and CIPD qualification.
  • Experience in a wide range of HR services including resourcing, early careers, HR operations and payroll.
  • Passionate about technology and an ability to apply this to deliver business benefits.
  • Fluent in a European language other than English.
