Technology Innovation Engineer
Genuinely one of the most unique and wide-reaching technology roles I have seen in the local market. For someone who lives and breathes technology innovation and how its practical application can revolutionise the engineering sector this is a golden opportunity.
My client is a progressive, high visibility Group of companies in the manufacturing and services space. They have a fantastic track record of investment and innovation in their IT systems and have recently undergone one of the largest ERP implementation projects in Ireland in one of their portfolio companies. And they are just getting started.
The company has put together a new team to focus on Systems Implementation and Digital Transformation /Integration projects across the Group. Picture it like a kind of ‘Digital Supergroup’ to undertake and drive a comprehensive programme of Digital Change across several large-scale companies in the portfolio and bring alignment across the group.
We are looking for an experienced Innovation Engineer with hands-on exposure to researching and evaluating new and emerging technologies in the context of ‘future-proofing’ and optimising process and efficiency. It is also a cracking role for someone coming from consultancy / vendor side who is keen to focus their skills within the one client brand and make a name for themselves by keeping a multi-million turnover global leader at the top of their game.
This is a brand new role with a high degree of autonomy that can be shaped and moulded around the right person. Responsibilities of the post are broad and organic but will involve the following –
- Research, Analysis and Evaluation of emerging technologies in terms of potential impact on the company’s products, processes and services
- Proof of concept development
- Technology integration, testing and validation
- Collaboration with various departments, teams and external partners to foster a culture of innovation
- Training and Support
- Industry involvement: participate in conferences, workshops and industry events to stay at the cutting edge of developments in the field
This is a genuinely unique career opportunity for someone who keeps one eye on the future. It is a very difficult role / profile to break down into a job spec but we are looking for at least the following cornerstones in terms of applicant background:
- Degree or Masters in a Computer Science, Engineering or STEM discipline
- Proven experience in researching, evaluating and implementing emerging technologies
- Strong knowledge of various emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, IoT, VR, Big Data, RFID
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and challenges in the adoption of emerging technologies
- Strong communication skills and ability to share your passion and inspire a culture of innovation
- NI resident with right to work in the UK
