Director of Construction

Artemis Executive Search are delighted to have been retained by local world class wet processing company CDE Global as they seek to appoint a Director of Construction.

This is a key role for the business and involves overall responsibility for the performance of contracts. Reporting directly to the CEO the postholder will manage a significant team comprising various heads of department including the Head of SHEQ/ Head of Planning/ Head of Projects and Head of Install and Commissioning. They will have overall ownership of delivering projects safely, on time, within budget and to the client’s specification.

The Role

Managing multiple projects simultaneously across a number of locations you will have overall ownership of delivering projects safely, on time, within budget and to the client’s specification.

A proven leader with demonstrable multi- million-pound project experience you will have overseen multiple projects simultaneously and coached, mentored, motivated and managed the project and program team.

You will lead, review and challenge project budgets and forecast ensuring a consistent and deliverable approach is adopted and also liaise and support the Technical Pre Sales team

on tenders regarding programme, technical matters and local supply chain, as well as post tender and pre-award support.

Proactively developing good working relationships with external clients you will help secure repeat business and work closely with the Business Development team to identify work winning opportunities.

Reviewing and assisting in negotiating contracts with suppliers & subcontractors ensuring that all contractual obligations are met and manage any disputes or claims that may arise.

Demonstrating clear and visible leadership, you will provide direction, mentoring and coaching to the team and actively drive and promote excellence, best practice and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will have a 3rd level (or above) qualification in a relevant Construction / Engineering discipline OR demonstration of significant comparable experience and have proven experience of leading a large team on multiple multi-million-pound projects. You are fully conversant with all relevant Health & Safety regulations and have a comprehensive knowledge of quality assurance principles, methods, design, testing and implementation. Commercially astute you have managed significant budgets and have experience in a multi-site construction /manufacturing environment.

An excellent communicator you can influence and facilitate change and enhance performance within a cross functional environment and ideally have LEAN, Six Sigma / Kaizen experience.
