Chief Financial Officer

Artemis Executive Search have been retained by one of Northern Ireland’s local success stories, Smiley Monroe to appoint a Chief Financial Officer into their growing business based in Lisburn. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team you will provide direction on the longer-term business strategy and play a pivotal role in supporting the business achieve our ambitious growth plans over the coming years.

The Role:

  • Support the CEO in leading the Group through high annual growth.
  • Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Finance, Purchasing, and IT Teams, Banks, Invest NI, Customers, and suppliers 
  • Build a positive team culture with a strong focus on employee engagement and people development.
  • Lead on all aspects of Group financial strategy.
  • Offer commercial input across the Group providing analysis and insights to facilitate financial and commercial decision making.
  • Play a lead role in mergers and acquisitions and/or establishment of overseas locations including researching opportunities, completion of due diligence, commercial negotiations, liaising with legal advisors, and development of funding plans. 
  • Oversee the coordination and management of the business planning cycle and annual budgeting process, preparing accurate forecasting and reporting systems with a focus on working capital management.
  • Ensure all financial and taxation regulations affecting each Group company are complied with.
  • Ensure adequate systems and financial controls are implemented and sustained to fulfil reporting and governance requirements in every company of the Group.
  • Ensure monthly consolidated management accounts, year end and ad hoc financial reporting information are produced in line with agreed timeframes.

The Person:

  • Be a qualified accountant and have 5 years post qualification experience.   
  • At least 3 years’ global experience at a senior level within a scaling Company. 
  • A successful track record in:
    • Formulating and executing financial strategy
    • Providing financial accounting information and advice
    • Management of the budgeting process
    • Financial management and reporting
    • Data analysis 
    • Mergers and acquisitions
    • Establishment of overseas locations
    • Project management of debt financing or other external funding requirements. 
  • Demonstrable experience of building a positive team culture and people development.
  • Working knowledge of ERP system. 
  • Ability to manage a team working to strict deadlines, prioritising and planning workload.
  • Understanding and experience of manufacturing processes and costing methods.
  • Ability to think commercially and consider change impacts on business performance.
  • Experience of change and project management.
