Assistant Accountant – Logistics

This role will see the successful post holder take responsibility for the day to day transactions, bookkeeping and reporting within the Accounts team. Over time, the role will develop to take responsibility for full preparation of Management Accounts. You will also support the logistics division from an financial and administrative perspective.

Typical duties:

  • Prepare VAT returns.
  • Collect, analyse and process supplier invoices
  • Recording financial transactions: Including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments. Identify and create journals for accounting adjustments, accruals and prepayments
  • Managing accounts receivable and accounts payable: Managing the process of invoicing customers, tracking payments, and following up on any outstanding payments. Managing vendor bills, ensuring invoices are paid on time, and maintaining good relationships with vendors.
  • Reconciling accounts: Regularly reconciling bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial records to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
  • Prepare monthly analytical schedules as required to support monthly management reporting
  • Provide challenge to the status-quo, identify and deliver process improvements
  • Support Head of Finance with any ad hoc queries and projects.

The person:

  • This is a role well suited to an experienced Accounting Technician / Assistant Accountant / Bookkeeper who is capable of working well as part of a small commercial team.
  • AN ATI / IATI qualification or part qualified ACCA / CIMA is advantageous but not essential
  • This is not a trainee role and will be suited to someone experienced who enjoys getting involved in a variety of work
  • The role offers good scope to develop within the business
  • Strong communication skills will be key for success
  • A reasonable grasp of excel is important
  • You should be conversant with Accounting software, Xero is advantageous but not essential
