DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic:
•To take responsibility for ensuring that the Company conforms to all financial, legal, statutory, and contractual requirements and to develop appropriate policies and procedures to promote best practice.
•Provide leadership and vision to the Company through the development and implementation of a strategic plan to guide the Company towards profitable growth and long-term sustainability.
•Identify the long-range objectives of the Company and recommend their adoption to the other Directors.
•Identify, assess, and inform the Directors of internal and external issues affecting the Company.
•Regularly review the operational performance and strategic direction of the Company.
•Provide motivational leadership in the day to day running of the Company, encouraging effective communication and a collaborative working relationship between all staff and managers.
•Develop and implement commercial strategies according to company goals and objectives aiming to accelerate growth
•Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, business development etc.)
•Understand the requirements of existing customers to ensure their needs are being met
•Collaborate with and coordinate diverse teams (accounts, marketing, sales, customer service etc.)
•Setting and monitoring KPI’s for all departments
•Writing business plans and ensuing targets are met
•Reviewing project costs and ensuring on budget each month
•Build and maintain profitable partnerships with key stakeholders
Accountancy:
•Responsible for the accounting operations ensuring that appropriate controls and systems safeguard the financial resources of the Company
•Communicate routinely with contract/project managers on a variety of job-related topics including bonds, insurance, and contract agreements.
•Participate in the formation and implementation of company financial plans.
•Preparation of all monthly financial reports including Key Performance Indicators.
•Provide reporting and budgeting as required by the Directors.
•Supervise accounts team.
•Work with project/contracts management staff ensuring proper compliance with accounting procedures including reviewing and analysing job cost estimates and reports monthly.
•Chair the monthly financial management meeting.
•Examine all investments and capital expenditure proposed making recommendations as appropriate.
•Work closely with the Company Directors to develop and monitor annual budgets and to monitor progress against financial targets.
•Preparation of monthly/quarterly management accounts, cashflows and end-of-year accounts.
•Oversee payroll, PAYE and statutory tax returns and maintain appropriate pension arrangements for staff, liaising with the chosen pension provider as appropriate.
•Work alongside the company’s accountancy firm.
•Lead sales teams to identify new customers and manage sales teams KPI’S & work with the marketing team to build brand awareness and manage the marketing teams KPI’s
Risk Management
•Identify and evaluate the risks to the Company’s people (customers, staff, management), property, finances, goodwill, and image and implement measures to control risks.
•Ensure that the Directors and the Company carry appropriate and adequate insurance coverage (Buildings, Contents, Public & Employers’ Liability etc.)
What do we look for?
- Chartered accountant – 4+ Years at CFO/FD level
- 3 to 5+ years of progressive accounting experience – within the construction/manufacturing sector preferred.
- Previous experience within 50-100 million businesses
- Experience in job cost accounting and financial reporting.
- Ability to lead commercial teams across the business
- Ability to delegate tasks
- Leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team to produce results across all departments
- Excellent customer service and client satisfaction skills.
- Understanding of commercial insurance policies required.
- Extensive experience with Sage Line 200 or similar accountancy software
